THE HEALTHY FOOD PYRAMID
Most club golfers have terrible eating habits when it comes to being out on the golf course. Beer, soft drink, pies, sausage rolls and chocolate generally make up their day and most of the time, but not always, their game suffers because of it.

BAD FOODS

1: - SUGAR
Sugar is the most simple of carbohydrates and is burnt by the body extremely quickly. As you can see on the graph, once ingested your energy levels will be boosted high above your ideal energy platform only to plummet well below this level.
Foods with highest sugar levels are; Soft Drinks – Chocolate – Lollies – Ice cream. You all know the ones, they’re sweet and tasty and bad for your teeth. Not only are they bad for your teeth, what your body does is use extra energy and vitamins to break the explosion of simple carbohydrates down and your body is stripped of essential nutrients.
2: - BREAD AND PASTRIES
Any food that contains White Flour can be classed as in the same food group as Sugar. It is a simple carbohydrate that is burnt quickly by the body and zaps it of valuable nutrients. If Bread or pastries are eaten, it is advisable to go for whole meal flour based breads and pastries as the whole meal flour has not been processed as much and contains more nutrients than white flour. Whole meal flour takes longer to digest and is burnt at a slower rate than white flour so the energy you receive from the whole meal products lasts longer and does not destroy concentration levels.
3: - CAFFEINE
Coffee, Cola and other caffeine containing substances may be good to stimulate your senses but ultimately dehydrate your body and you will loose concentration and feel drained of energy. If sugar is mixed with caffeine then the rate of dehydration and exhaustion will greatly increase.
4: - ALCOHOL
